Step by Step Early Learning Childcare Center opened in response to the critical need for quality childcare and early learning for the South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County families of the Lake Tahoe Basin.Previous Owners Candice & Dainer Bailey who recently retired and sold their business to Seema & Rahul Bahl were running  Early Learning Center since 2006 and their 15 years of experience and passion for quality early learning is reflected in their program. Starting with just 3 classrooms their business has expanded to 9 neutrally decorated classrooms creating a calming early learning environment for our children. Step by Step has a Reggio Emilia inspired approach to curriculum, which is student centered and uses self-directed, experiential learning in a relationship driven environment. In other words, children in our program are encouraged to play as they learn. Our program is based on the principles of respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery.

Step by Step Early Learning and Childcare center is the largest licensed infant toddler center in the Sierra Nevada. We specialize in Infant/Toddler development and care, providing full time care for children from birth to Kindergarten. Our center also offers creditable Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten programs. We offer either 4 or 5 days enrollment per week. We do not offer drop-in care or part time enrollment. This enables our teachers to establish the relationships needed for our Reggio Emilia inspired program. We experience a low turnover of enrolled children due to our high-quality program. Space opens occasionally so sign up for our waitlist early if you are interested in enrolling.
